Guadalupe State Park, Texas
Gary, Gabbie, and I went for a hike this morning along the Guapalupe River. The 2 mile loop was a sunny but muddy one. I enjoyed getting out into nature and away from the city.

Olson Time
Two days before Christmas is all I got to spend with my family. I didn't really get to see Hans or Jenny but know that I will get to see them soon. I love my family and miss them.
We did have a fine dinner. Plus, Kait and Gabbie decorated a gingerbread house.

Blue Bird Day
Gabbie and I woke up early this morning, made pancakes, and headed for the slopes. Mt. Hood Meadows was our destination. Blue skies, the sun was shinning and we had a great time. I was so proud of Gabbie. Learning how to ski is hard and very frustrating at times. She followed my directions with a smile on her face, who could ask for more?
Later we hit up the Double Mountain Brewery on our way home and shared a beer with some friends. One of which threw a sealed slab if freshly caught steelhead and we terriyakied it for dinner.
Tomorrow we had up Seattle to visit my folks.

Gabbie
For eight years this gal has been my best friend, wife, accountant, and companion. She runs a tight ship and knows how to have fun. Gabbie, I love you honey.

Maui
Gabbie and I went to her brother's wedding in the up country of Maui. We stayed in a nice condo on the beach, snorkeled, swam in a warm ocean, hiked, and tried to take as much as we could in. It was unfortunately a very short trip.
I love it there because I feel so at ease. Every time we visit I fixate in moving there. Someday?

Posting Made Easier
I am so psyched about the blogger app. Now I can post from my phone and not be on the computer. So much easier.
Let's see
School started in September have been busy! Ha ha ha
Went to a pumpkin patch in October and met a really pig names Sugar. She smelled like Canadian bacon, no joke
Thanksgiving happened.
Now it's ski season.
Expect more soon.

Texas, Pigeons, Dolly, & The Deschutes
SF rooftop view
Caverns in texasIt has been so long since I have blogged that Gabbie says "what's the point of even checking?". It has been long overdue and a lot has happened. I have been in and out of town so much that it is difficult to sit down at the computer.
We went to Texas a few days after we returned from the John Day. It was nice to see Gabbie's folks and the Yeagars (a family we met in Dakar). We went fishing, to an amusement park, shopping, a flea market, and caverns.
Right when we returned, Gabbie got a call and an offer to rescue two baby pigeons. So she scavenged some wood, bought some wood, and built a loft. Now we have homing Pigeons: Commander Squeaks and Judge Midge.
A few days later we drove down to SF to see Dolly Parton in concert which only took 3 fill ups of gas to get there and back, go Beetle! We stayed with Gabbie's friend Lisa, who has a wonderful view of the city from her roof top deck.
Yesterday, I returned from my first Segment Four float of the Deschutes of the year. It was really crowded and I didn't get to fish as much as I wanted to. It was still nice to sleep under the stars though.
I am off to Bainbridge on Monday for a few days and then we hit the river again. Then, work starts again. Two and a half months off has been great!

Summer Update
It is the fourth of July, an 80 degree day, and I am ready to head out of town again. The fireworks are driving us crazy (especially Buddy and Ms. Ritchie). We go to Texas on the 8th and I would like to try to get out onto the Deschutes before we go.
The house is coming along, we just had some gates installed, I added the mountain goat, and I installed a rain garden off of the chicken coop. The chicken are in full egg production laying four a day. We can't keep up so, I have been delivering eggs to my surrounding neighbors.
In all, life is still good. I have a teaching job for next year, Gabbie and I still laugh at each other, and I am becoming a better fisherman.
Oh and, having 2.5 months off is totally awesome!
