What a great weekend! On our way to Canyon City we found out that Gabbie was accepted into Medical school. Our first weekend at Boot Hill included a bottle of champagne, a broken barn door, and some quality time on our own. We love the small town feel and fresh clean air.

Last Summer Vacation for 2012

For the last week of summer vacation, Gabbie and I headed east to revisit The John Day area. Gabs reserved the Deer Creek Work Station cabin for three days. We saw a variety of wildlife: bear, elk, deer, wild turkey, and wild horses. Gabbie also gave me a lesson in geology as we drove back in time.

Deschutes Steelhead

Last week I caught my first hatchery steelhead on a fly. Bringing it in was an experience. Gabbie and I relaxed riverside and got some sun too. School starts soon. Ack.

Bainbridge Island Visit

This week Gabbie and I drove up to Bainbridge Island, Washington to see my folks and do some crabbing. We caught nine keepers in total, seals swam near the boat, and besides the little thunderstorm/lightning storm, the weather was perfect. Thanks mom and dad for being such awesome parents. Thank you also to the Siberian wildfire for the spectacular sunsets you gave us.

Road Trip Snapshots

It took Almost seven hours to get to the Malheur National Forest from Portland. We even managed to stop at the Pendleton Mill Shop/Oulet (no mom, I didn't return the bag you gave me). Did you know that they upholster furniture? My favorite stops were in little towns, like Canyon City. Gabbie and are ready to move.
