Woke up today and enjoyed the hot pot once again. We then drove to an historical site named Laufus, and ancient manor farm and a church built in 1865. Early Icelandic builders used sod for siding and insulation which is genius! The church was a church, small and neatly put together. later, we drove further down to a fishing village named Grenivik where we saw a great view of the North Atlantic. Some of the locals were using snowmobiles to climb the nearby peaks and ski down. I was envious to say the least. We ended our day at the gym and the photos are foggy because my hands were shaky after a tough workout. Tomorrow we leave our fjord cabin and head back to the big city. It went by too fast and we will both miss the hot pot! Hopefully tonight we will get to see the northern lights. It was a clear and sunny day today, which increases our chances.

CrossFit and Views
After taking too many days off from working out, we decided to hit the local CrossFit gym and sweat it out. It felt great to get the heart pumping and visit a new facility. It was well equipped and small. The coach was really nice and she gave me some good feedback. Besides that, we sat around and enjoyed our view, which is amazing no matter what the weather is like. On a side note - I included a cool picture of a neat van and a clever way to keep lettuce fresh.

Myvatn
Today we drove an hour and a half east to a lake named Myvatn. Our first destination was a bird museum and I learned that Iceland has the world's most diverse population of ducks. The museum also had a small room that displayed a boat and fishing gear that belonged to a Norwegian man in the early 1900s. We then drove to the north Atlantic plate tectonic boundary and found a well known hot pot. At first we passed the entrance because it just looks like a hole in the ground, but once we backtracked, Gabbie found it, and in we went. The water was warm and I soaked my feet and relaxed in the cave's peaceful surroundings. It was just us, which was nice. I also just learned that this hot pot was used to film a scene in Game of Thrones. Pretty neat! We are back at our cabin and sleepy from getting out of our own oasis and still adjusting to the time zone difference.

Akureyri
Today we woke to semi blue skies and most of the snow surrounding our cabin had melted. We have been enjoying hopping in and out of the hot pot, reading, napping, and playing cards. This afternoon, we decided to take a drive into Akureyri and explore the town. We went shopping and grabbed a cappuccino accompanied with a pastry. It has been a beautiful sunny warm day and we are in full vacation mode. Tomorrow, we plan on driving an hour east and explore other towns.
