It's March and I am in Iceland once again, enjoying my spring break. I haven't posted in ages because I haven't made the time. I am busy at home with work and keeping things in order. My wife Gabbie is away most of the time attending medical school and I am busier now, keeping home life in order. With that said, a lot has happened... my favorite event so far is that my sister Jenny and her husband had a baby girl in November. My niece is named Elizabeth and she is everything a baby should be: adorable, chubby, giggly, hungry, and at times, irritated because it's hard for a little to communicate. I love being an aunt, it's the best because I can hand her back to her mommy and daddy once she starts crying. I look forward to being a positive adult figure in her life and a friend.
Other events in my life include going to CrossFit at least three times a week, work, and gardening. It has been a good school year, so far. I love my students because they are funny and we get along. I hear comments like "you are my favorite teacher" or "I don't like Humanities, but I like you, and that makes me like this class". It's amazing what positive relationships can do to encourage work ethic. I sometimes see myself running a business in the same manner. People like to work, especially when they are inspired.
My father took my pheasant hunting and it was nice to spend some one on one time with my pops. We adopted a new cat, named Snorri, we bought a new car, and my little sister got married to a fine young man named Mitch (who is currently in the BUDS program and trying to become an elite Navy Seal). Wowzers, a lot has happened...
Gabbie's medical school experience has also been great. She made honor roll and seems to be enjoying what she is learning, even though it is time consuming and stressful. I get to see her on the weekends, but sometimes she spends some weekdays at home. We have been together for ten years and this time away hasn't taken a toll on our relationship, it has made it stronger. We spend less time bickering about silly things and more time appreciating each other. Plus, she is happier! She is doing something she loves and she is learning. I am very proud of her, She is my Sakura.
Now, I am in Iceland and look forward to posting information about my time here.
